WHAT DOES THE TOOL SHOP TAKE: We stock tools – all kinds, all sizes, all models, and all brands of tools and equipment.   Here is a sampling of the items we accept:  Air Tools – Electrical Tools – Automotive Tools – Hand Tools – Power Tools – Plumbing Tools - Woodworking Tools – Safety Equipment – Welding – and Much More.  It’s probably simpler to say what we don’t take.  We do not take household items, clothing and furniture (with the exception of work benches and stools).  We do not accept broken or non-functioning tools and equipment. 

ACCEPTANCE OF MERCHANDISE: The Tool Shop, LLC, reserves the right to accept and sell items we determine to be saleable.   Items must be clean, in good condition, and in demand.  

  • All electric and pneumatic tools are tested to demonstrate working condition.
  • Large items need to have store approval before being brought to the store.  Approval may be through photographs, email, or inspection.  Contact The Tool Shop for more information.
  • Items brought into the store must be inventoried and accepted by The Tool Shop before being displayed.  Once items are accepted, you will receive an email or phone call itemizing all the items we have accepted and a consignor number to track your items.  This may take up to 3-5 business days to complete. Please respond to us letting us know you agree with the pricing.
  • Any items requiring cleaning, touch up, or repair may be charged parts and/or labor and deducted from your payout.
  • Items not accepted will be held for 5 business days after you are notified. If the items are not picked up within 5 business days, the items may be donated, placed in our clearance section to be sold under the store’s account or recycled. Please contact the store to set up other arrangements.
  • The Tool Shop reserves the right to refuse items at any time due to condition, current inventory or past selling experience.

 

CONTRACT TERMS AND SPLIT:  Items accepted for consignment will be put on sale for 90 days in our store and on the website. Specialty items may be placed on our EBAY store. We will discuss with you prior to putting any item on EBAY. All EBAY fees will be split 50/50 with the consignor and deducted from your payout.  If your items have not sold within 90 day you have the option to:

  • Re-consign your items for additional 90 days and we will review the selling price.
  • Pick-up your items within 5 business days following the end of the 90 day period unless prior arraignments have been made. Unsold items not picked up after 10 business days are considered abandoned and may become property of The TOOL SHOP. 
  • We are happy to work out any arrangements with your items, just give us a call.
  • When your item sells you will receive:
    • 50% of the selling price for items selling up to $200.
    • 60% of the selling price for items selling over $200.00
    • Special arrangements will be made for larger quantity or higher priced  items       

 

PRICING: We will work with you to arrive at a favorable sale price for your items.  The Tool Shop reserves the right to decline items if we feel the expected price is too high for the resale market. The consignor must notify The Tool Shop within 48 hours after receiving their inventory list if you are not in agreement with the sale prices of your items.  A handling fee based on a percentage scale will be added to each item. This fee is passed on to the buyer and not reflected on your inventory list.  Any item requiring cleaning, touch-up, or repair may be charged parts and/or labor.

 

CONSIGNOR PAYOUT OPTIONS AND FEES: Payouts are made by check for amounts over $25 dollars and cash for under $25.  Checks are ready for pick-up on the 20th of each month. Consignors may use their account balance as “store credit” to purchase items, just let the store know. Any item requiring cleaning, touch-up, or repair may be charged parts and/or labor and deducted from the consignor’s payout.

 

LIABILITY DISCLAIMER We will take exceptional care of items consigned; however, all merchandise is the consignor’s property until sold.  Please insure items are covered under home owners/renters insurance.  The Tool Shop holds no responsibility for loss or damage to items by fire, theft, accident or any cause.

 

LAYAWAY We do offer a layaway plan.  We require a 50% down payment on any layaway and require you complete the purchase within 4 weeks.  If you do not complete the purchase within the 4 weeks, we will retain the deposit and any payments made to cover the loss of sales time.  Our layaway option is not an opportunity to “decide” on a purchase.

 

REFUND Only defective items may be returned within 3 days from date of purchase with receipt. Returns will be honored as store credit only.  Because these are SECOND HAND TOOLS we can only offer store credit.  Please ask to have the tool tested while in the store.

 

HOLDS AND STORAGE We will hold purchased items in the store for 5 days after a completed purchase.  During this time, it is the consignor’s responsibility to arrange for pick-up and delivery.  Items left beyond 5 days may be charged a $10/day storage fee unless arrangements are made.

 

DELIVERY/PICKUP/CLEANOUT We offer delivery and pickup service for large items.   A delivery fee will be charged at time of purchase based on size of item and location.  If you are picking up large items, please bring all supplies you may need for transport.  The Tool Shop does not supply ties, straps and padding.  We also offer CLEANOUT SERVICE.
